Residential Alcohol and Drug Detox In Austin

Focused Recovery and Enriching Treatment For Men

What Is Alcohol and Drug Detox In Austin Like?

The earliest stage of recovery is the detoxification and withdrawal process. This is when your body is eliminating harmful substances that it has grown dependent on in order to restore a healthy balance.

Men often avoid seeking professional help and attempt detox on their own. However, this process can lead to uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms and even dangerous effects. Professional detox offers safety, relief, and much-needed support in a crucial time.

At The Last Resort, our inpatient detox program takes place on a serene 55-acre horse ranch in the beautiful rolling hills of central Texas, just outside Austin. Here, you will experience a tranquil recovery, evidence-based interventions, dedicated support, and our signature Equine-Assisted Therapy to address any underlying trauma and enrich the treatment experience.

Our rustic but elevated environment offers the perfect blend of addiction treatment care and adventure resort for a positive recovery you’ll remember forever.

How (and Why) Residential Medical Detox Works

A residential detox and drug rehab program is a highly structured environment that offers both daily treatment sessions and essential rest and reflection.

Detox is often the first step toward recovery and is an essential component of effective treatment. Medical Detox provides a safe and comfortable environment where you can undergo the withdrawal process with medical supervision. Undergoing the detox process on your own can be not just uncomfortable but dangerous, making it important to find a supportive and healing environment to focus on recovery.

As part of a complete treatment program, when needed, the Last Resort incorporates detox into a treatment program that emphasizes the need to identify and address underlying trauma from past experiences while also treating alcohol or drug addiction. Successfully linking detox with a complete treatment program reduces the likelihood of repeated withdrawals and can ultimately deliver the level of care you need.[1]

We also incorporate trauma-informed Equine-Assisted Therapy in our treatment approach. This method has been documented to increase treatment commitment, reduce depression and anxiety, increase self-reliance, make a positive emotional impact, and increase motivation for continuing treatment.[2]

Our residential treatment center offers 24/7 supervision and support with daily care in a compassionate environment. This is the recipe for thriving success we’ve developed over decades in operation.

Within an organized and structured program, you will pursue healing with every interaction and encounter. Each client will receive a customized treatment plan tailored to their needs to ensure that each session is as effective and beneficial as possible.

Efficacy of A Supportive Residential Detox Treatment Program

Professional detoxification for substance use disorder and co-occurring mental health disorders helps you to safely withdraw from drugs and alcohol in a safe and supportive environment. This minimizes complications and can increase recovery success. Efficacy and benefits of detox include:

01
Lower risk of complications

With 24/7 supervision and unrestricted access to nurses or other healthcare providers, residential medical detox programs help reduce the risks posed by common withdrawal complications (seizures, cardiac issues, dehydration, tremors, etc.).[3]

02
Reduced withdrawal symptoms

A residential detox program will employ evidence-based approaches to alleviate the discomfort experienced during the detox process.

03
Increased likelihood of ongoing treatment

The research proves that those who stay invested, complete a detox program, and attend ongoing structured treatment at a recovery center are more likely to maintain abstinence and improve general functioning.[4]

With any type of alcohol or substance use disorder treatment, the goal is always an improved quality of life. You can build a strong and healthy future for yourself and your loved ones with dedicated interventions and support.

Frequently Asked Questions about Alcohol and Drug Detox in Austin

How long does drug and alcohol detox in Austin last?

This depends on your unique needs, as determined by the treatment plan. However, on average, our clients remain with us anywhere from 45 to 90 days.

It’s possible to detox at home. However, this greatly depends on the severity of your alcohol or substance use disorder, the substance used, overall health, access to safe medical help, and more. Without the constant support of providers and fellow community members, it’s more difficult to remain safe and consistent. Always consult with your doctor before attempting to detox at home.

Studies show that when you incorporate Equine-Assisted Therapy, you’re four times more likely to remain in ongoing treatment for more than 90 days.[5] Additionally, the same report reveals that those who participated also experienced less depression and anxiety and felt more empowered overall.
